Vladivostok is a city and the administrative center of Primorsky Krai, Russia, situated at the head of the Golden Horn Bay, not far from Russia's borders with China and North Korea. The population of the city, according to the preliminary results of the 2010 Census, is 592,069. The city is the home port of the Russian Pacific Fleet and the largest Russian port on the Pacific Ocean.
Vladivostok is in the monsoon area of the temperature zone. Seasonal changes of air streams occur under the influence of temperature changes between the mainland and the ocean. The mean annual temperature is +5°C. The average temperature in January is -14°C, the average temperature in August is +24°C.

The city has its own meat factory, dairy plant, bakery plants, confectionery plant; concrete and brick works; as well as its own furniture factory and plywood and porcelain factories. City's cultural venues include two theatres, a circus, art galleries and museums.
In 2012, Vladivostok will host the 24th Summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum and the 10th Asian Youth Forum (AYF).
